OCHO is proud to present BELÉN MAYA: YO QUIERO SER HUMANA “I Want to be Human,” on Wednesday April 3 2024 at 7pm at Rosewood Farm and Fragrance in the countryside of Boerne, Texas. YO QUIERO SER HUMAN “I Want to be Human” is a one-woman performance by Belén Maya in dance and spoken word.

Outdoor Table seating under the Texas skies, lite fare & wine included.

HUMANA shows Belén’s experiences in life and dance, telling the story of discipline, repetition, triumph, failure, pain, body, emptiness, music, focus, fear and overcoming. Belén engages the audience in the creative process through storytelling, improvisation, games, and movement, sharing the creative process as a space of ritual, adventure, childhood, intuition and gifts. This production is never the same, as it involves audience interaction, with a different trajectory and outcome each time. HUMANA is the inspiring story that displays the vulnerability, imperfection, and fallibility of the artist… showing that creation is made of common, everyday elements that we can recognize in our own lives.

Belén Maya comes to San Antonio from Sevilla, Spain to present this work. She has been called one of the most important flamenco dancers of this century. As the daughter of the legendary Mario Maya, who single-handedly revolutionized flamenco through his choreography and large-format company, Belén Maya was born into greatness. However, Belén has managed to build a stellar reputation that’s based more on her own work and personal style than on her family name. Belén is a tremendously prolific artist, with work oscillating between the traditional and the contemporary, and she regularly tours the world performing and teaching.

The event takes place at Rosewood Farm and Fragrance, Boerne, Texas on Wednesday April 3 2024 at

7pm social hour with lite fare & local wine provided. Curtain at 7:30.
